Acid washed jeans, parachute pants, shirts with polka dots, loose blazers with sleeves rolled up, all these we hear about, were the fashion labels of eighties. In history it was one of the most remarkable periods of the fashion industry, which gave fashion a whole new meaning. Many designers tried their level best to work with this theme, but the way Marc Jacobs used it, is indeed, overwhelming. Actually Marc Jacobs is an American designer and has a love for eighties, who is running his brand now-a-days and his 80’s collection is famously known as the “love of Marc Jacobs”.
His collection of fall 2009 and the run-way show is the witness of his love for the eighties fashion. It is pretty easy to comprehend his obsession as eighties was the era of good clothing. His 2009 fall collection had bright colors, was sizzling and hot. Glossy effect was created in most of the out fits. The collection’s main theme was to symbolize the night life of New York; which revolves around party girls and young and enthusiastic teens. His dresses also included frocks, with fluffy fabric and lots of gathers to give volume to it, but short in length and highly fitted.
In eighties, people were in love with bright striking colors and lots of gilts. Marc remembered these facts and made a whole collection comprising of polka doted shirts, stretchy bright tops and off course the black leggings. The ramp models were given acme attention and they carried their outfits with élan, whereas, the jewelry was simple as in eighties, dresses were more important than jewels and accessories. As the dresses were full of shimmers and gloss, therefore, to balance it light and neat jewelry was needed.
With these outfits, simple lace shoes and flats were used in the show. In order to reflect the keen love of marc for eighties, make up was done in the same manner, using heavy mascara and thick long eye liner. The hairs of models were back combed and blow dried. In short, everything in the show depicted eighties to its fullest.
